One of the most common ways to get
HPV is when there is direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. The
types of HPV that infect the genital area are spread primarily through genital-to-genital contact. In fact, of the over 100 types of HPV viruses, over 30 are transmitted sexually.
HPV transmission occurs easily among sexual partners. More than 50 percent of sexually active men and women get a genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired a genital HPV infection.
