How Do Genital Warts Spread?
Condoms and the Spread of Genital WartsHPV research studies have not confirmed that male latex condoms prevent transmission of HPV, but studies do suggest that using condoms may reduce your risk of developing diseases linked to HPV, such as genital warts and cervical cancer. Unfortunately, many people who don't have HPV or genital warts symptoms don't know that genital warts can spread the virus to an uninfected partner.
Can Genital Warts Transmission Occur During Delivery? In rare cases, a pregnant woman with genital warts can pass HPV to her baby during vaginal delivery. A baby that is exposed to HPV can develop warts in the throat or voice box (known medically as laryngeal papillomatosis). These warts appear in children up to the age of five and can block the breathing tubes, causing life-threatening breathing problems.
